A battle of the brains between a Maryland trail planner and Virginia attorney is set for Thursday night in the quarterfinals of the latest Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions.
Arlington attorney Luigi de Guzman will join Silver Spring resident Kevin Belle - also known as Whiskey Ginger - on stage with Canadian psychiatrist Juveria Zaheer as they compete for a $250,000 grand prize.
During his time on the beloved quiz show, Guzman has averaged $26,709 per appearance, hitting on five of six Final Jeopardy! questions while correctly answering more than 88 percent of the questions.
Belle has made just three Jeopardy! appearances, among the lowest in the tournament, and he has averaged a score of $10,950, answering 94.8 percent of his answers, though he is just one for three in Final Jeopardy!
The "occasional drag queen" and University of Maryland graduate has taken to social media in recent days to promote the matchup against de Guzman and Zaheer.
The big matchup between some of Maryland and Virginia's brightest is set to air on ABC at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 29.
